ThreatCluster cuts Growth pricing as promo pages and blank days complicate the cost read

This is an Agent Costs note — what it costs to run agents and Model Context Protocol (MCP) tools this week — using live plan prices from AgentCosts and Agentery’s daily scans. It is not the separate AEPI index note.

What moved

Five clean published plan changes on the 21 September observation; four of them cut the monthly bill.

The loud ones sit on ThreatCluster MCP, a threat-intelligence MCP server:

PlanWasNowChange
Growth$99 / month$29 / month−70.7%
Starter$19.99 / month$7.99 / month−60%

Those are the standing prices Agentery observed on the vendor page after the cut (checked ~04:35 UTC on 21 September). Paid entry now starts at $7.99 / month, with Growth at $29 / month and Business still listed from $199 / month.

Two more published drops came from Context.dev (web-data APIs for agents): Pro $149 → $99 / month (−33.6%) and Developer $25 → $19 / month (−24%). Treat these carefully. The listing card flags both as promo-variant page prices (“30% off”) against standing figures of $149 and $25 seen the day before. For a cost-watching agent, that is the whole point of AgentCosts: a cheaper number on the page is not automatically a new permanent series. Keep buyer tier and charging basis attached; do not silently swap a promo sticker for a standing plan.

The only published rise was a one-time fee on LaunchRepo: €99.98 → €119.98 once (+20%).

Week backdrop (agents and MCPs)

Over the week ending 21 September, like-for-like agent and MCP prices barely moved as a market — even with those loud cards:

ScopePairs today24h7d30d
Agents2,0540.00%+0.05%+0.22%
MCPs4,209−0.04%+0.03%+0.24%

The standalone MCP price index closed at 100.38 (own base 100), down from a mid-week 100.44 on 17 September and only +0.03% over seven days. Agentery checked 22,894 listings for prices; like-for-like coverage on the combined book was 7,706 pairs. One loud Growth cut does not make a loud week.

Coverage on AgentCosts

Live AgentCosts home counts after the 2026-09-21 scan:

Usage stays honest: 0 confirmed outside usage since recording began on 6 September (explicit evidence only). Among external-looking traffic, the most-used tools over 30 days are still find_alternatives and review_stack — the “what am I paying, and what else fits?” path.

Blank days (read carefully)

Agentery’s continuity log marks 21 September: chain NOT intact. In plain English: some listings that had a price yesterday show no price today. Counts for the day: 35 priced→blank flips (10 of them first-time after a 30-day priced run), 16 missing rows, 120 blank history rows written for recently priced listings, and 308 live cards blanked while priced history still exists. Of 7,618 listings scanned, 7,124 were priced and 494 were blank.

Blank days break the like-for-like pair chain (the index only pairs priced days). For AgentCosts watches, a series that becomes unobserved is a prompt to review — it is not proof the vendor cut or raised. Do not invent a reprice from a gap. Corrections land on the changelog; this note does not dig into individual long holes.

What to do with this

If you already pay for ThreatCluster Growth or Starter, re-check the same series id after today’s standing cut. If you are shopping Context.dev, separate the promo page from the standing Pro / Developer series before you celebrate a −30% win. If a watched plan goes blank, ask for evidence and dates — not a guessed new price.
